Biography

Scott Thompson, M.D. is a Board Certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine and orthopedic trauma. Dr. Thompson has extensive experience treating athletes with a variety of sports-related injuries, and is trained in the latest advancements of surgical and nonsurgical sports medicine.

Dr. Scott Thompson attended Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts where he earned his Medical degree. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Dr. Thompson completed his Surgical Internship and Residency at the New York Presbyterian Hospital at the Columbia University Medical Center. He then pursued additional training by completing an Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Boston Medical Center at the Boston University School of Medicine.

Prior to joining the Orthopedic Center of Florida, Dr. Thompson practiced Orthopedic Surgery in Naples and Bonita Springs. During this time he served as the Chief of Orthopedics at the largest healthcare system in Collier county. Additionally he was a team physician for Florida Gulf Coast University and the head team physician for Collier County High Schools. During his training Dr. Thompson worked as a team physician for Boston University Ice Hockey, Soccer, and Basketball teams.

Dr. Thompson has also used his knowledge in a variety of Sports Medicine conditions to publish a variety of chapters and essays in reputable journals. He is also a member of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and Fellow American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
