Dr. Andrew M. Belis, born and raised in Long Island, New York. He completed a Bachelor’s degree in Human Physiology from Boston University prior to attending medical school at Temple University in Philadelphia where he earned his doctorate of podiatric medicine. He then completed his residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, in Brooklyn and then attained extensive surgical training at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Maryland.
Dr. Belis is involved with continued education of his peers and is a national speaker and consultant to orthopedic and podiatric surgeons from around the country. He is also an associate faculty member of the Florida State University, Family Medicine Residency Program. He is very active in his profession and serves on the Board of Directors for the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons and on the Executive Board of the Florida Podiatric Medical Association. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and of the American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics. His local involvement is that of President of the Lee County Podiatric Medical Society.
Dr. Belis came to the Cape Coral/Fort Myers area in 2002 with his wife and has since had three wonderful children. He enjoys traveling and spending time with his family. Dr. Belis takes the time to provide personal, quality care to all of his patients. Like all the physicians at Orthopedic Center of Florida, Dr. Belis works hard to keep his patients active…and back on their feet!
Non-Surgical Treatment of the Foot and Ankle
Dr. Patricia Nicholas is a graduate of the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. She completed her residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Her diplomate, American Academy of Wound Management was conferred in 2001. She ran multiple successful medical practices on the North Shore of Long Island, New York for the past 20 years.
She was the first minority president and the second woman president of the New York State Podiatric Medical Association (NYSPMA) and made advancements to population health agenda. She is an active member of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA). She chaired the Ethics Committee, Awards and Recognition Committee and Membership Committee, Public Education and Information Committee among many others. She serves as Chair of the Podiatry Committee for the State of New York Workers' Compensation Board. She is an adjunct clinical instructor at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. She is Past President of the Caribbean American Medical and Scientific Association.
Her heartstrings were tugged with the earthquake in Haiti in 2010 and soon after founded Kindest Hearts Foundation. Thanks to the generous donations of her friends and colleagues she built a school for over 200 students and manages a staff of over 50 employees. The foundation also runs a medical clinic.
Dr. Nicholas came to Cape Coral/Fort Myers area in 2019 with her husband. She enjoys the beautiful sunsets with her husband and warm weather. She is looking forward to visits from her three beautiful children that live and work in the Northeast.

Dr. Black completed his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at the esteemed Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Following this, Dr. Black completed a podiatric surgical residency at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA. This also included advanced surgical training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at the Sigvard Hansen Foot and Ankle Institute at Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington in Seattle as well as additional training in foot and ankle traumatology at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco, California.
Throughout his career, Dr. Black has pursued continuous professional development and underwent advanced training in internal fixation of the foot and ankle, microneurovascular surgery, and Illizarov external ring fixation for the correction of limb deformities.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Black holds a prominent faculty position at the Podiatry Institute, headquartered in Decatur, Georgia. He is widely recognized as a distinguished speaker for both the Podiatry Institute and the International Foot and Ankle Foundation for Education and Research, contributing his expertise on a national level.
Dr. Black's professional achievements include being recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, which is a testament to his exceptional qualifications in the field. JORGE N. GIL, MD
Orthopedic Traumatology & Foot and Ankle Surgery
Dr. Jorge N. Gil is a Fellowship Trained Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in foot and ankle conditions as well as orthopedic trauma. Dr. Gil is trained in the latest advances in lower extremity surgery, including minimally invasive surgery, total ankle replacement, foot and ankle reconstruction, limb deformity correction, pediatric foot deformities, complex trauma, and sports injuries.
Dr. Gil pursued his medical education at the prestigious University of Florida. Upon graduating from medical school, Dr. Gil remained at the University of Florida, completing his residency in orthopedic surgery. Throughout his residency, he gained invaluable experience in a wide range of orthopedic procedures, solidifying his foundation in general orthopedic surgery, which included treating orthopedic trauma at a level 1 trauma center.
After residency, Dr. Gil undertook a fellowship in Orthopedic Surgery of the Foot and Ankle at the renowned UHZ Sports Medicine Institute in Miami. Under the mentorship of esteemed experts in the field, he delved into the intricacies of foot and ankle surgery, acquiring skills in complex reconstructive procedures, minimally invasive techniques, and sports-related injuries.
