Understanding the Anatomy of the Spine.

The spine is a complex and vital structure that supports your body, protects your spinal cord, and allows you to move freely. It’s made up of 33 vertebrae divided into five main regions: cervical (neck), thoracic (mid-back), lumbar (lower back), sacrum, and coccyx (tailbone).

Between each vertebra are intervertebral discs, which act as cushions and help absorb shock. Running through the center of the spine is the spinal cord, a bundle of nerves that sends messages between your brain and body. Supporting muscles, ligaments, and joints all work together to keep your spine strong, stable, and flexible.

Whether you’re bending, twisting, or simply standing upright, your spine plays a key role in everything you do.
