It is with great honor and recognition that Orthopedic Center of Florida announces the retirement of its co-founder Larry S. Eisenfeld, M.D.
Dr. Eisenfeld is Board Certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. During his long and illustrious career, Dr. Eisenfeld has served on Executive Committees at local hospitals and played an integral part in opening two ambulatory surgery centers in Ft Myers; Physicians Surgery Center, now called Lee Island Coast Surgery Center and Riverwalk Surgery Center. Dr. Eisenfeld has also volunteered as the Team Physician for many local high schools as well as professional sports teams in the area.
Larry S Eisenfeld, M.D. moved to Fort Myers in 1982 to begin his career as an Orthopedic Surgeon. Having graduated from Medical School and completed his Internship and Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., he has spent the past 33 years providing his orthopedic expertise to the residents of Southwest Florida. During that time he co-founded what exists today as the Orthopedic Center of Florida.
Over the years even with several name changes from Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Specialists to Sports Medicine and Joint Replacement Specialists,
Dr. Eisenfeld’s commitment to medicine and the care of the people of Southwest Florida remained steadfast and true.
In 2006, the creation of Orthopedic Center of Florida began with Drs. Mark Farmer, John Mehalik, and Sandra Collins where we remain today as one of the areas most highly regarded, respected and trusted orthopedic facilities.
The Physicians and staff of Orthopedic Center of Florida will always be thankful for his many years of service and dedication to this community. We wish him well in his retirement.
Dr. Eisenfeld plans to spend time with his wife Terri, his children Mark and Rachel and his grandchildren. He is an avid baseball fan and looks forward to having more time to attend the Spring Training games.
