Dr. Eric Trathen is a graduate of Barry University School of Graduate Medical Sciences located in Miami, Florida with the degree Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. At the Miami Veterans' Medical Center, he had the privilege of caring for our veterans as he completed an extensive 3 year residency program. Post doctoral training emphasized diabetic care, wound care, limb salvage, foot and ankle trauma, sports medicine, total ankle arthroplasty (joint replacement), and reconstructive surgery of the foot, ankle and lower leg.

Post doctoral training emphasized diabetic care, wound care, limb salvage, foot and ankle trauma, sports medicine, total ankle arthroplasty (joint replacement), and reconstructive surgery of the foot, ankle and lower leg. While in residency, Dr. Trathen also received training in the areas of internal medicine, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, dermatology and the medical management of critically ill patients. Dr. Trathen's approach consists of conservative therapies and surgical intervention with an emphasis on preventive medicine.
Dr. Trathen's prior experience includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana University, service in the United States Army at home and abroad as a military policeman, and 11 years in law enforcement with the last 5 years serving as a police officer in Fort Myers, Florida.
Originally from Northwest Indiana, Dr. Trathen has lived in Fort Myers since 1997. He and his wife Jennifer, who practices dentistry in Lee County, have three children. When Dr. Trathen isn't caring for his patients he spends his time with his family. He enjoys playing soccer, basketball, golf and fishing.
